24 things I've learned in 24 years

If you need a little pick me up or some motivation today, you're gonna want to read this...

I've pretty much always been this cool, it's a lifestyle

I like to use my birthday as a time to reflect on the past year, what went well and what I need to learn from. 23 was a year of EXTREME growth for me, and anyone who has gone through big changes knows how challenging that can be.

In the past year I got my personal training certification, started my coaching business, quit my job, went through my parent's divorce, went through a break up, made a ton of new friends, started meditating.. I mean I could go on and on.

Needless to say, I'm using today as an excuse to reflect on what I want my 24th year to look like. I want to use everything I've learned in the past year as a springboard to become an even better version of myself.

So, I made a list...

24 things I've learned in 24 years

(aka 24 slightly cheesy cliches because it’s my birthday and I’m allowed to be cheesy).

My first and only tutu. Rocked it though.

  1. Everything happens for a reason. Life is happening for you, not to you.

  2. Love is to life what freedom is to the soul (I saw that on a kombucha bottle once).

  3. Life is better when you eat carbs...especially chocolate.

  4. People come and go and that’s okay. Bless them while they’re here and bless them when they go.

  5. Don’t dance like nobody's watching. Dance like everyone's watching and you’re gonna dance anyway.

  6. Your body wants to be healthy. As soon as you stop trying to control it, it will become the healthiest version you’ve ever seen.

  7. What other people think about you doesn’t matter, what you think about yourself does.

  8. Life is easier when you let go and trust God.

  9. Exercise and laughter are the best medicines.

  10. It’s okay to take time for yourself, especially when you think you don’t have the time or deserve it.

  11. Adding vegetables to smoothies is the best thing ever.

  12. Traveling is the best way to learn about who you are.

  13. Helping someone else can brighten your day more than almost anything else.

  14. The days you really don’t want to go to the gym are when you really need to go.

  15. The shape of your body does not determine your worth.

  16. When something starts to bug you, think to yourself: “Will this matter to me in a year?” The answer is usually know.

  17. Your gut is always right.

  18. Karma is REAL.

  19. Nobody knows your body better than you.

  20. When someone gives you a compliment, say “thank you.” That’s enough.

  21. Nature is neat.

  22. Comparison is the fastest way to hate your life. What you see is the highlight reel, don’t fall into the trap of thinking everyone has it better than you do.

  23. Calling your grandparents just to say hello is always a good idea.

  24. Life isn’t a competition, your journey should not look like anyone else’s. Embrace it, look for signs that you’re moving in the right direction and enjoy the ride.

That's what I have so far... Thanks for reading and I hope to have given you some fun things to think about!
